It Was Richard's Day For Exploring The Big Town
Slightly obscure Brum reference there. Ooh, I wonder if i can find the theme to that? *googleises* Hm, ok maybe not. Ah well.
Today I woke at the relatively ungodly hour of 10 am, and descended to the chamber of computerisation and MSN'ed for a wee while, until I went upstairs and worked on getting my fingers used to switching between the three chords I know, until I espied the young and virile Louis strollating down my road, and I went to greet him. As arranged we made the long and winding journey to Bromley, where he purchased the long sought-after Father Ted DVD box set, and I made the wonderful purchases of the first volume of Fullmetal Alchemist on DVD, which should prove to be a yarn and a wemmick, and that which my film studies cohorts should love me for; the soundtrack to the Wicker Man. All I need is the film 'propa' and that would kick just a mild amount of posterior. All together now:
"I BELIEVE IN THE LIFE ETERNAL, AS PROMISED TO US BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST!"
There were some little oddities in Pret et Manger, though I forgave her as she worked there. What was rather offputting was the fact that as we sat at the table enjoying our purchased goods, a woman sitting outside decided to spend some quality time breast feeding her baby. Which was lovely. I enjoyed the view...........immensely. Fo.............shizzle...
"OH GOD!!! OH JESUS CHRIST!!!"
Peace out wicker men

An unprecedented attempt
My friends and readers, I am going to make an attempt at a feat that may or may not be fabulous. I am going to try and write a vaguely long blog post WITHOUT the use of pictures or excessive presses of Return. I'm not sure if it'll be in anyway interesting since, hey lets face it, it's one of mine but I shall endeavour none the less and you may all go WOO and YAY in the comments. And I think that's enough for an introduction, so end paragraph number 1
This actually may end up being a stream of consciousness blog, but for the moment I should keep to some sort of structure to grasp your interest which will lure you to read the rest without realising the turgid schpiel it actually is. Which this second paragraph is rapidly becoming actually, so i should actually get on and say something of interest (HA!). Erm. So yeh, as Stompp so rightly pointed out in the comments to last post last thursday he pulled up the STOMPP-FAMILY-AUTOMOBILE-OF-DOOM and passed into my grubby little hands (thanks to his Mafioso style connections; well his sister i guess) a rather spiffy and exceedingly retro Mega Drive II (the II meaning its a wee bit smaller) and a plethora of pre-'95 titles. And waht a collection they be! While the majority are admittedly the tried-and-tested Sidescrolling Shooter genre, there are some other little gems in there, including Splatterhouse 2, a game that had about the same effect in '93 as GTA:SA had earlier in the year. VERY tame in comparison however. Another undisputed classing among the bunch is the infamous Zero Wing, a game made well known not by tremendous graphical enhancements or originality in the gameplay, but by that lovable rogue Cats who so proudly declares that our base no longer belong to us. No, in fact, "All your base are belong to us" he quite proudly states. And rightly so. For, all our base do belong to him. And so, for great justice, take off every Zig. Classic stuff! The humour in the Engrish rantings of Cats however are second only to the utmost hilarity of Fifa '95, produced before EA went EAvil. While not exactly as faithful a football simulator as the likes of PES, nor with the fantastical commentary of Worldwike Soccer '96 (go stompp :P) it does has some moments of hilarity in the instances such as when, after being tackled by an opposing player I seek revenge by pushing him halfway across the pitch, and then as he writhes on the floor in agony I kick the ball into his prone form. Noone tackles me...
So, with a paragraph about both retro gaming and football i have probably turned most of my audience away, so i shall attempt to appeal to the prospective bankers amongst you by describing the monopoly win I had over my mother not so long ago. It was pretty quick as monopoly games go, only 35 minutes. However, thats not to say it was not actionpacked. A quick purchase on the first to cycles yielded all the properties but Leicester Square, and some tactical buying meant that only two sets where owned: my mother had the reds, I the greens. However, with some very lucky dice rolls and a good set of chance and community chest cards, I had enough money to start developing the properties sooner, a full set of houses appearing 2 turns before mum started. Later, sensing her to be about to hit the greens again, I put another 3 houses on, leaving me with 2 on each. She did indeed hit the greens, and I again waited for her to circle the board before i put another set on, which she again hit. The sudden influx of income meant the few times I hit her reds were resisted easily, and I indulged in another set of houses, leaving me equipped with 4 on each. Mum, who on the 3 house landing had already lost a severe amount of money and the majority of her properties, was not able to withstand the £900 rent a 4 housed green promised, and she rolled the dice tentatively as she approached, though breathed a sigh of relief as she went past unscathed. As she passed Go it seemed her monetary worries were looking up, though she immediately landed on the tax square, losing her hard earned 200 easily. It was only a matter of time before she landed on the Greens, and she called the game. It's true; the Top Hat rocks in monopoly.
So, what else have i done? Other than the splended pastimes listed above, I've developed suspected OCD when it comes to cleaning my room. Not only have i cleaned the floor, but i have also cleaned out under and to the side of my desk, chucked my PS2 magazines, cleaned my bookshelf and sorted my books, sorted my wardrobe and (heaven help us) washed my windows of 20 years worth of gunk. Madness.
In other news, I'm 17 tomorrow. Go me. Woo. Fabulous. Another year. Go me again. Woo and yay. Roxx0rs. Reminds me of a comic strip in fact
See you tomorrow then

Been a funny old week
And i mean funny. Funny as in "Whoa....duuuuuuuude" not funny as in "egg-swing Fighter".
First of all, quick rant:
CABLES AND WIRES: BANE OF MY FUCKING EXISTANCE
Unlike Sarah. Thank you *takes a bow*

Dawn there. I ended up being on MSN at some obscene hours last week thanks to some curséd females, sarah mainly ;) but at least dawn looks pretty
On the friday evenin' i departed on the Boulevard of Late Journey's towards the Staines Domain once more (though, since it was my fault we were late, I had to carry the alcohol. My arm was killing me). Almost immediatly the shenanigans began, with me succumbing to precious vanity and taking a rather dashing picture of me

(NOTE: the rest of the pictures are in good old fashioned blurrovision)
The crew began their journey into Stupor Mode with the assisted musical ballads of System of a Down

And while Chris, Dave and Nick relaxed comfortably

Matt and Tom got a little further acquainted

Though matt did not deny his roots

Though, twas not just Matt and Tom who were getting a little close for comfort throughout the evening. The undisputed Champion of Chris's was also seen to get fraternising wth most of the company:

Even the mild mannered me was not safe from his lusts

However, all good orgies must come to an end, and I went home and curled up for sleep (anyone who 'awws' at this needs to get out more, that includes Sarah:P)

After this heady unconscious fun, I awoke on the saturday. After a quick internets, where I bid farewell to the Rural-bound Helen, and I set off towards the Stompp's (with a quick detour back to the Staines Domain to borrow the SOAD album) where I was presented (pun intended) with Rez and a rather fetching WoW poster, so kudos to the Stomppmeister for that. I then managed to scare him completely by completed the Direct Assualt mode on my own (for the record Stompp, I did it again when i got home, and only got hit once. Completed it in Final Form, ooooh yeeeeh!) With a mulch of gaming fun with he, I once again set off home.
Then for the Bank Holiday Monday. A day I had already planned my activity for, and I realised it with 10 hours of solid Jigsaw Puzzlin'. A fiendish task, which probably wouldn't have taken so long had i been concentrating more. But sill, here be the completed Puzzle in all it's glory:

Uber no?
-
And that was basically it. Not much else happened really, so i went on a quest to find all the syntax errors i could in Grandia. It started with not so much of a grammer problem, but something just as disturbing:

Yes, that is a cow, kissing a human. Run.
Anyway:

And, what syntax attack is complete without the classic:

Some random pictures of the cats:

And that is my week so far.
Welcome back to the Helen!

They don't make 'em like they used to
A few weeks ago, while 'chillin'' at the Staines Domain i was treated to Matt playing us the theme to Fireman Sam, which was the best excuse to air guitar as a 5 year old. With this in my head for a few days, it was compounded by, on a trip towards Oxford, Matt's phone ringing to reveal his ringtone of current choice as the theme to Pokémon.
Suddenly, I sought out these tunes, in my search finding many other old TV themes that have not been heard for nigh on a decade. Here are my currently owned themes:
Pokémon
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Dragonball Z
Transformers
Doctor Who
The Avengers
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Fireman Sam
Inspector Gadget
Jimbo
SuperTed
Thomas the Tank Engine
The Herbs
Noggin the Nog
The Moomins
Bagpuss
Camberwick Green
Top Cat
Thunderbirds
Star Trek
Airwolf
Blackadder
Mary, Mungo and Midge
The Bill
Captain Scarlet
The Clangers
Fireball XL5
Bill and Ben The Flowerpot Men
Stingray
Joe 90
UFO
Hector's House
AstroBoy
Rainbow
Fawlty Towers
Batman
Willo the Wisp
The Smurfs
Ghostbusters
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Mr Benn
The Raccoons
The Poddington Peas
Pogle's Wood
Penny Crayon
Grange Hill
Trumpton
Tales of the Riverbank
Ivor the Engine
The Magic Roundabout
Sharky and George
The Crystal Maze
Reboot
Animaniacs
Wacky Races

If anyone wants any of them I am willing to help you relive your childhood the way only being a late teen will allow. Spectrum is Green :P
I'll let you know when I get anymore.

MONEY GRABBING SEXUAL WHORES!!!
You know its been a good exam when you manage to fit that phrase in there somewhere. Yup, that's all i knew of Chaucer; all the women are money grabbing sexual whores. English Lit went a lot better than I thought it might, despite being complacent. I, like the money grabbing sexual whore i am forgot to take the two books into the exam, after some twonk told me it was closed book. Yet, even without the respective book i managed to waffle on for 621 words about Tennessee Williams's psychological problems and for 402 about money grabbing sexual whores.
I like that phrase...
So, came home, came online and talked to only 1 money grabbing sexual whore until I started blogging. Though now Sarah is commiting an act of uber-pwnage, and Helen has gone onto a wet hair tangent.
So, I wondered today as I counted my words for this exam what ways people have for passing the time when they have the ten minutes or so left after they've finished the exam, but the exam isn't finished with the money grabbing sexual whores. I've developed a few ideas, use them and or ad to them. Any more can be commented, since i get bored easily:
Anymore?

- Counting words
- Drinking water
- Doodling on the little sheet that has your name/candidate number on
- Reading what others have scrawled on the desks
- (for the truly adventurous) Add to the scrawl
- Sing songs in your head (Ghost Love Score is a blessing. 10 minutes wasted!)
- Count bricks (i made the calculated estimate that without doors or heaters the sports hall wall has 5508 bricks.
- Make words with your name and canditate number. Unfortunately my candidate number is only a 5 away from being 'Free Otis'
- Look around at everyone else trying not to fall asleep
- Watch people fall asleep (I saw that, Messenger! Stay away from MY ink erasers...)
- Look around for someone you don't know and learn their names
- Read what questions others did
- Look for the foolish people still working
- Have a staring contest with one of the invigilators

How Comical
Saw episode III again today. Rocks. So hard.
The Odeon is catering to my fanboy whims somewhat. Go once, get a ticket. Go again with original ticket, get Yoda poster. Go with last 2 tickets, get Clone Trooper poster. Go with 3 of them, get yourself a shiny Anakin/Obi Wan poster. Go for a fifth time and nab the Vader one.
Alternatively, go to HMV and buy the posters for £3.99. Though.....then you dont get to see the younglings....MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry, infested with the soul of Nonnesuch there.
I saw 20 people I know in and around Bromley today! Madness!
Webcomics. Arent they fun? With the exams underway, I have a little more free time when not revising to broaden my horizons. After succesful forays into the archives I have added Able and Baker and VGCats to the sidebar. After a VERY LONG foray that lasted for 2 evenings and nearly 7 years worth of strips I completed the Penny Arcade archives just now, and thus gains it's rightful place in the hallowed sidebars. So what is it about webcomics that so appeal?
My first real descent into webcomics was thanks to the Stomppster Of Darkness, who once upon a troubador gave me the link to White Ninja. After a quick fo'shizzle through the archives i was more than a little hooked. But, there was a random link on one of the pages that I clicked and was transformed into a wonderful wonderful world. And a WONDERFUL world it was.
And from there many many webcomic (most shown by stompp) have engaged my fancy. All have gained a link. What's rather fun to do is to compare the first with the last strips, just to see the differences. For instance:
Penny Arcade compared to Penny Arcade...
Ctrl+Alt+Del compared to Ctrl+Alt+Del
Angst Tech compared to Angst Tech
And for real laughs, Little Gamers compared to Little Gamers
Ok, four hours later i finish this post... i seem to have a lemur on me... dont ask...
